The latest from the Cove...
Miriam is a gold and silversmith living and working in Whistler, BC. She is inspired by the 'curiosities of the natural world' and uses semi-precious stones in her work. Each piece is hand carved or hammered, and the variations between them are what make them so special.
Happy Thursday guys! Last night the boys took Rich and me on an evening walk and there was a warmish breeze blowing in the Cove. Mayor even took off his florescent orange "Ambulance" jacket and was back to his trusty white tank. It felt like Spring was in the air ... even if there are still dirty snow piles on the ground.
Last week was a whirlwind of activity with 3 days of sunshine (gorgeous!), a long weekend and that V-day holiday. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and supported our little shop, I had a blast playing with flowers and I'm happy to be donating 25% of all flower sale proceeds to the International Rescue Committee as a way of spreading a broader message of love this year.
Last week we received so many pretty new Canadian made special things! I felt like a kid in a candy shop unpacking new Lisa Fletcher jewelry (Tofino), Miriam De Langley jewelry (Whistler), Ouistine recycled sweater hand-puppets (Montreal) and Hart & Stone jewelry (Salt Spring).
Krista and I are doing some flower farm planning today, the dream lives on! Speaking of which, we are not-so-patiently waiting for Floret's new book to arrive the first week of March. Don't worry, I ordered lots!
I always think I can do anything & everything (mostly in 5 minutes or less), but experience has shown me that it can be difficult to do both simultaneously. I've decided to disable our online shop for now so that I can work on some exciting new projects for Room6. Playing with sustainable blooms, spending time with people I love, cleaning my juicer, drying 8 muddy paws, tending to three shops, traveling, designing new collections, sewing a quilt, defending our environment and practicing hand-lettering are keeping me real busy these days. I am, however, going to keep this blog updated with all the latest and greatest from our beloved Cove. If you see something on the blog and would like more information, just give the shop a call, send us an old-school email or best yet, come visit. We're here for you and because of you, so let us know if we can help. xox
PS: This is my "just act natural" face.
